The Recruiting for Diversity project set out to identify what hinders and supports human resource departments to adopt fair, accessible and equitable recruitment practices within their organisations. Through these conversations HealthWest have learnt that whilst there is broad support for workplace diversity, particularly from organisational leaders, there are a variety of practical strategies that organisations can take to improve employment access for people from a range of life circumstances, backgrounds and identities.
The HealthWest ‘Recruiting for Diversity’ report shares what we heard around challenges and opportunities from 6 local organisations working towards greater employment inclusivity.
This Report Highlights summaries key points from the Community Conversations project. In 2020, researchers asked twenty young people and women from migrant and refugee backgrounds in Melbourne’s west about their experiences of finding work in Australia. A series of common themes emerged from the interviews across both CMY and MCWH groups. These provide valuable insights for policy-makers and service providers seeking to improve the social and economic prospects of young people and women from migrant and refugee backgrounds.
