The Consumer Reference Group (CRG) aimed to bring the consumer, carer and community voice to the work of the OEPCP. Over 14 years the group provided an important platform for suggestions, feedback, ideas and advice, ensuring that the perspective of people using local health and community services is reflected in planning for and delivery of local services. The CRG led and supported a number of projects and initiatives including research reports, forums, submissions to state wide sector reforms, videos and information brochures. The Busting the Myths project captures the stories of seven women and their experience of men’s violence. The project is a partnership with OEPCP, Women’s Health East Speaking Out Advocates Program and EDVOS. The project highlights how these women’s lived experiences expose and challenge some of the most commonly held social myths about violence against women. This resource has been developed for use by OEPCP partners and beyond, and we encourage broader dissemination where appropriate. We do ask that the video be shared thoughtfully to respect the courage and generosity of the women in the video.
Behind The Clutter: A Client’s Perspective on Hoarding resource was developed by the OEPCP and the Maroondah Hoarding and Squalor Network (MHSN). The resource contains a set of four personas to represent the MHSN community; two clients with hoarding challenges, a family member and a worker from the sector. The purpose of developing these personas is to: • Raise awareness of the issue of hoarding and its complexities • Build empathy for clients with hoarding behaviours • Better understand the challenges faced by those supporting people with hoarding behaviour (family members and workers).
