These snapshots have been developed to provide an insight into the health and wellbeing of people across the Central Highlands Primary Care Partnership. These focus on the 10 priority areas of the Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2019-2023 catchment.
The report includes liveability measures from across the PCP region, around: housing; food access; active living; social connection; crime & violence; climate; employment, and access to services.
The Integrated Health Planning Group (IHPG) is a group of health and wellbeing organisations coming together under a Collective Impact approach. The IHPG aims to improve the health of local communities in the Yarra Ranges through the implementation of initiatives that address reducing the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages, and increasing the consumption of water. This forms the body of work towards one of their three priority areas: nutrition, physical activity and the prevention of violence against women.
A need was recognised to develop a document for: advocating for food security and guiding development and implementation of best practice programs. This need was identified through research that highlighted the Outer East Melbourne Region had a high risk of food insecurity. Five Regional Food Principles (RFP) were developed to guide practice and support advocacy in this area. This document aims to explore the literature, and test the application of the RFP by comparing them to current programs in the region.
This project aimed to investigate the current supply chain of fruit and vegetables in the Eastern Metropolitan Region, and to use a food systems approach to identify evidence-based, inter-sectorial and multi-strategy intervention options to address food insecurity. The project involved undertaking a literature review and stakeholder consultation to provide information about the current state of the food system and food insecurity in the region. Data was thematically analysed and coded into three main themes: Food Supply, Food Access and Governance.
