The Workforce Mutuality Accelerator Program was the most recent and final initiative in HealthWest’s Economic Inclusion for Health stream, providing an opportunity for member organisations to participate in a funded capability building program that would assist them to improve workforce diversity, inclusion and mutuality in their organisation.
Why does workforce diversity matter? Better access and delivery of services, increased satisfaction for consumers, better health outcomes, more jobs for everyone – these are just some of the benefits members of the Workforce Mutuality Expert Advisory Panel describe when our workforce better matches the diversity of the community. The Workforce Mutuality Standards developed by HealthWest Partnership are the first of their kind that aims to support organisations in building more inclusive pathways with the community and making their services more responsive to the needs of a hugely diverse community.
This Final Report presents the findings of the evaluation of the Standards for Workforce Mutuality pilot, which took place June - December 2018. This report examines the outcomes of the pilot and draws conclusions on the fitness for purpose, effectiveness and feasibility of the self-assessment process, while also providing recommendations and suggestions for the future use and custodianship of the Standards.
The Workforce Mutuality Toolkit consists of three documents designed to be used together. They provide guidance on how organisations can build workforces that reflect the diversity of the community.
• Standards for Workforce Mutuality: Explains the concept of workforce mutuality and its benefits. Describes the six Standards for Workforce Mutuality and their indicators.
• Examples of Good Practice Guide: Describes a three step approach for making improvements to workforce mutuality. Includes examples of good practice and practical resources.
• Self-Assessment Tool: A tool for assessing an organisation against the six Standards for Workforce Mutuality. Includes guidance for planning a self-assessment and prioritising work.
