The Outer East and Inner East Primary Care Partnerships held two Healthy Choices Community of Practice (CoP) in 2019. These events were an opportunity for health promotion practitioners working to promote healthy eating in the Eastern Region to come together and hear from guest speakers, undertake a mapping exercise of local projects and identify opportunities for future collaboration. These presentation slides are from the CoP held in December 2019.
VicHealth and Common Cause Australia released the Healthy Persuasion Message Guide for health promotion practitioners to apply a Values-Based Messaging (VBM) approach to their work. Realising the value of this resource, OEPCP approached VicHealth about running a series of masterclasses for local practitioners. The first workshop focused on an introduction to VBM with over 80 practitioners in attendance. Due to the success of this event, a series of subsequent workshops were held with a focus on local health prevention priorities. These workshops enabled practitioners to upskill and learn how to put VBM theory into practice.
The assessment guide provides information and best practice principles for Gippsland sub regional assessment networks. The goal is to promote integrated assessment services across health sectors that achieve consistent assessment practice, streamlined processes for people with a health issue and eliminate the impact of duplicated effort
The Consumer Reference Group (CRG) aimed to bring the consumer, carer and community voice to the work of the OEPCP. Over 14 years the group provided an important platform for suggestions, feedback, ideas and advice, ensuring that the perspective of people using local health and community services is reflected in planning for and delivery of local services. The CRG led and supported a number of projects and initiatives including research reports, forums, submissions to state wide sector reforms, videos and information brochures.
